Wales secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein in their World Cup qualifying match, maintaining their lead in Group J. They are now two points ahead of North Macedonia, with seven points. Despite dominating early on, Wales found it challenging to break through Liechtenstein's defence until just before half-time.
Joe Rodon opened the scoring with his first international goal, heading in from Sorba Thomas' corner. Harry Wilson added a second goal after the hour mark, marking his fifth goal in seven games for Wales. Kieffer Moore sealed the win by converting a rebound from David Brooks' saved shot shortly after.

Craig Bellamy praised Wales' control and attitude during the match. "We could have made it a lot more [goals], and we'd like to make it a lot more," he told Match of the Day Wales. He appreciated how they managed the game and created chances, emphasising the importance of maintaining such performance levels internationally.
The statistics underscored Wales' dominance: they had 26 shots with 11 on target and an expected goals (xG) tally of 2.6. In contrast, Liechtenstein failed to register a single attempt. Wales also recorded 54 touches in the opposition box and made 119 entries into the final third.
Despite expectations to defeat Liechtenstein, who haven't won competitively in five years, Bellamy was impressed by his team's sharpness when in possession and their quick reactions defensively. He stressed that preventing opponents from building attacks is crucial for future matches.
Next up for Wales is an away match against Belgium, who suffered a 3-0 defeat to Norway in their opening qualifier. Ben Davies believes this victory was excellent preparation for facing Belgium. "I think the three points was the most important thing," he said on Match of the Day Wales.
Davies noted that while they dominated possession against Liechtenstein, securing goals was key. He anticipates minimal changes for the upcoming game against Belgium and emphasised their aim to achieve a positive result there.
