Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor expressed determination for his team to recover after a 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the Women's Super League. Mayra Ramirez and Guro Reiten scored late goals, propelling Chelsea to the top of the league. Despite this setback, Taylor remains optimistic about City's title chances, emphasising their resilience in past challenges.
Taylor highlighted City's ability to bounce back from defeats, noting their strong track record. "We've always done really well on the occasions we have lost, and we don't lose often," he told Sky Sports. He stressed that the league is not decided in November and expressed confidence in City's ability to challenge Chelsea for the title.

The match seemed destined for a draw until Chelsea's late goals shifted the outcome. Ramirez and Reiten scored in quick succession during the 75th and 79th minutes. Chelsea ended with an xG of 0.85, while City's was 0.56, reflecting a closely contested game.
Taylor acknowledged errors from both teams during the match but felt City could have capitalised more on their opportunities. "In the first half, they made more errors, and we could have capitalised," he said. However, he admitted that City struggled to convert chances into goals, which ultimately cost them.
Lauren Hemp's absence was another challenge for City. The attacker has been instrumental with five assists this season but missed this crucial match. Taylor mentioned that there is no set return date for Hemp yet, acknowledging her importance to the team.
"When you lose a player of Lauren's ability, it is going to be a problem for anyone," Taylor told BBC Sport. Despite this setback, he remains hopeful due to the quality of other players available.
The defeat marks City's first league loss this season but does not deter their ambitions. With a two-point gap behind Chelsea and a game in hand, City remains firmly in contention for the Women's Super League title.
