West Ham 0-0 Arsenal: Three talking points as Gunners slip to seventh after London derby

London, Dec 14: Arsenal were held by a firm West Ham United as the London stadium saw a dreary goalless draw. David Moyes ran with a similar eleven that beat Chelsea and got the coveted outcome by and by.

In the interim, Arsenal's miserable run in December continue as two successive draws and one loss against Manchester United have now made them tumbled off in the race of four as they sit seventh in the table.

1. Change of formation did not look stable

Arsenal made a change to their system as Arsene Wenger reverted from back three to back four after the injury from defender Shkodran Mustafi, however, their change in the system did not seem to be ideally alright as it looked the team flagged to buildup to perfect solidarity in the defence.

West Ham attacker Marko Arnautovic always looked as a big threat in the box and in the wing. He almost scored a winner in the game but was denied by the linesman for an offside whereas other attackers like Lanzini and Antonio always provided an ample threat in the Gunners defence as they look vulnerable.

2. Giroud delivered a below-par performance

Oliver Giroud was provided with a rare start in the game ahead of new signing Lacazatte however, the forward failed to capitalise the opportunity. The Gunners played with their strength in the attacking buildup as Wenger's men stick to the plan to provide set piece cross and delivery from the side position to Giroud's head.

Total around 23 long crosses were provided in the box, however, the tall French striker failed to win back most of the headers and only delivered a below-par performance.

Arsenal's attack looked blunt going forward in the first half with Giroud failed to maintain the tempo of building up with Wilshere, Ozil and Sanchez and could not be influencing on counter-attack either.

3. David Moyes improving the Hammers

David Moyes has had miserable spells after his stints with Manchester United. The Scotsman was sacked only after nine months in his tenure at United and later in his career at Real Sociedad as well as in Sunderland, the former Everton man had been a failure.

He also led Sunderland to a relegation however it seems now his career might be on a good path again as after his arrival Ham has looked more dangerous and in the last two weeks, they defeated the defending Champions whereas again took a point from biggie Arsenal which deserves nothing but admiration.
