Liverpool Secures 2-0 Victory Over West Ham With Isak's Goal Ending Losing Streak

Liverpool ended their losing run with a 2-0 win against West Ham. Alexander Isak scored his first Premier League goal, while Cody Gakpo added another late on. West Ham played with ten men after Lucas Paqueta's red card.

Alexander Isak found the net for Liverpool in the Premier League, helping Arne Slot's team secure a 2-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium. This marked Isak's first league goal since his transfer from Newcastle United, achieved in his sixth appearance. The Swedish striker scored on the hour mark, capitalising on Cody Gakpo's assist to slot the ball into the bottom-left corner.

West Ham faced challenges when Lucas Paqueta was sent off with six minutes left, receiving two yellow cards for dissent within 54 seconds. Despite Jarrod Bowen's attempt that went wide, West Ham struggled to make an impact, failing to register a shot on target throughout the match.

Liverpool Beats West Ham 2-0 with Isak's Goal

Isak had previously been denied by Alphonse Areola's impressive save and saw Florian Wirtz also thwarted in a lacklustre first half. However, Isak managed three shots during the game, with two on target and an xG of 0.72. His goal against West Ham added to his tally of six career goals against them, equalling his record against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.

Cody Gakpo sealed Liverpool's win with a late goal in injury time. Joe Gomez delivered a right-wing cross that Gakpo converted from eight yards out. This victory ended Liverpool's streak of three consecutive losses across all competitions.

Liverpool executed their strategy effectively despite a challenging start to the match. Isak had limited involvement with only 13 touches and three passes throughout the game. Nevertheless, his crucial goal provided relief and confidence after a difficult beginning at Liverpool.

This victory not only boosted Liverpool’s morale but also showcased Isak’s potential as he continues to adapt to his new team. The win was significant for both Isak and Liverpool as they aim to regain form in upcoming fixtures.
