West Ham Players Hold Video Call With Michail Antonio Ahead Of Wolves Victory

Tomas Soucek shared that West Ham players held a video call with Michail Antonio before their match against Wolves. They dedicated their goals to him following his recent accident and surgery.

Tomas Soucek revealed that he and his West Ham teammates had a video call with Michail Antonio before their win against Wolves on Monday. Antonio was involved in a car accident on Saturday, resulting in surgery for a fractured lower limb. Soucek and Jarrod Bowen dedicated their goals to Antonio during the 2-1 victory at the London Stadium.

West Ham expressed gratitude to emergency services and first responders who attended the scene of Antonio's crash. Images of the damaged vehicle circulated online before it was confirmed that Antonio was stable in hospital. The team showed solidarity by connecting with him through a video call before the match.

West Ham Players Dedicate Win to Antonio

Soucek shared his emotional response upon hearing about the accident. "It was really tough for us," he said. He explained how he was with his children when he saw the news and immediately reached out to find out more about Antonio's condition. The incident affected not only Antonio but also his family and teammates.

Soucek emphasized how much Antonio means to him, saying, "The goal was for him." He expressed his desire to score even more that day, highlighting Antonio's importance since joining West Ham. "He is really my favourite," Soucek added, acknowledging how difficult it would be to play without him.

Antonio, West Ham's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer, had played in all 14 matches this season before missing the Wolves game. Soucek scored nine minutes into the second half, followed by Bowen's goal after Matt Doherty equalised temporarily.

Lopetegui's Thoughts

Head coach Julen Lopetegui also dedicated the win to Antonio and his family. "We are happy; we dedicate the victory to Michail," Lopetegui stated. He acknowledged the challenging week they faced and expressed confidence in Antonio's recovery, saying, "He deserves this."

The victory over Wolves provided some relief for Lopetegui amid recent pressures. He praised Antonio as a special person and expressed hope for his swift return. The team's performance served as a tribute to their injured teammate.

Antonio remains an integral part of West Ham both on and off the field. His teammates eagerly await his return while continuing to support him during recovery. The match against Wolves highlighted their unity and determination to succeed despite challenges.
