West Ham Acquires Left-Back El Hadji Malick Diouf From Slavia Prague For £19m

West Ham has signed left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for £19m. The young player aims to progress his career in the Premier League after helping his former team secure a domestic title.

West Ham United have secured the services of El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for 19 million (21.9 million). The left-back played a pivotal role in Slavia's triumph last season, helping them clinch their 22nd domestic title. They finished with 90 points, a significant 16 points ahead of Viktoria Plzen. Diouf, aged 20, has already earned four senior caps for Senegal.

Diouf expressed his excitement about joining West Ham, stating, "I'm really happy to be here and to make a progression for my career. I'm looking forward to working hard and joining my new team-mates." He acknowledged that many clubs were interested in him but chose West Ham after discussions with Graham Potter. "Everyone wants to come here to play in the Premier League," he added.

West Ham Signs Diouf from Slavia Prague

The signing of Diouf marks West Ham's second acquisition this pre-season. Earlier, they made Jean-Clair Todibo's loan move permanent for 36.3 million (42.5 million). The club has also seen several departures, including Vladimir Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Michail Antonio, Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell, and Lukasz Fabianski as free agents. Additionally, Mohammed Kudus was sold to Tottenham Hotspur for 55 million.

Diouf contributed significantly to Slavia Prague last season by playing in 27 league matches and helping secure eight clean sheets. His versatility allows him to operate as a left wing-back as well. West Ham described his contract as long-term but did not disclose specific details.

Diouf believes playing in the Premier League is a dream for many players and sees it as an opportunity to further develop his skills. "When they are here, they want to make everything good," he said. He emphasized the importance of having the right personality and ambition to succeed at this level.

As West Ham prepares for the upcoming season, integrating new talents like Diouf into their squad will be crucial. The club aims to strengthen its defensive line-up while maintaining competitiveness in one of the world's most challenging leagues.
