West Ham vs Arsenal: Bukayo Saka goes past two Manchester United stars with scintillating display

Arsenal's young superstar Bukayo Saka etched his name deeper into Premier League history by surpassing Bruno Fernandes and Nani in total assists, thanks to a scintillating performance against West Ham United.

Saka has recorded a brace of assists in the first half during Arsenal's dominant display, as the Gunners lead 5-2 at halftime at the London stadium.

Bukayo Saka

At just 23 years old, Saka continues to grow in statures. The winger's ability to both score and create opportunities has made him an indispensable part of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal squad.

His two assists against West Ham took his Premier League tally to 45, edging past Manchester United icons Bruno Fernandes (44 assists) and Nani (43 assists). Fernandes is the current Man United captain while former Portugal international Nani was a key part of the Red Devils team earlier in the millenium.

Saka also has 10 assists in the Premier League this season and leading the chart so far.

The milestone is a testament to Saka's consistency and creative brilliance. His first assist against West Ham came in the 10th minute when he whipped in a perfect cross for Gabriel Magalhaes to head home. Saka then got his second of the evening with an inch-perfect delivery to Leandro Trossard. The England international then won a penalty and as Martin Odegaard converted from the spot, the Gunners star recorded his third assist, but it may not be added to the official list.

Arsenal scored another goal through Kai Havertz and were leading 4-0 at one time. But the Hammers came back with a strong reply as they scored two goals within two minutes, from Aaron Wan Bissaka and Emerson to get back into the match. But a late penalty kick conceded by West Ham saw Bukayo Saka scoring from the spot to make it 5-2 for the Gunners at the break.

The seven goals in the first half means it is only the 4th time that 7 goals have been scored in the first 45 minutes of a Premier League match, first in 12 years.

As Arsenal continue their push for the Premier League title, Saka's ability to deliver on the biggest stages will undoubtedly be crucial in their quest for glory. The North London team is expected to come out with all three points and it would take them to 2nd in the table.
