West Ham United have officially announced the acquisition of striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund. The transfer fee is reportedly around £27 million (€31.5 million). Fullkrug joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen last year for £12.6 million (€14.7 million).
During his tenure at Borussia Dortmund, Fullkrug netted 12 goals in 29 Bundesliga matches. His contributions helped the team secure a runner-up finish in the Champions League behind Real Madrid. Additionally, he scored twice for Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, despite not starting any games.

The 31-year-old striker has signed a four-year contract with West Ham, marking him as their fifth signing this transfer window. Previous signings include Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, and Wes Foderingham, all ahead of Julen Lopetegui's debut season as head coach.
"I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and for me it is the right time to move over to England and play for a big club like West Ham," Fullkrug told the club's website. "I have been thinking about West Ham for a long time now."
Fullkrug expressed excitement about reuniting with technical director Tim Steidten, whom he knows well from their time at Werder Bremen. He has also watched some West Ham games and is impressed by the team's quality.
"The chance to play under the head coach is also really exciting," Fullkrug added. "His playing style is important for me, and I am confident that under him I will be able to perform at my best, and score lots of goals."
Fullkrug emphasised his eagerness to connect with West Ham supporters: "I love being close to supporters, and I'm really looking forward to meeting the West Ham fans."
"I have a very good feeling at the moment—I'm strong, fit and in shape—and I just want to get out there and start playing for them," Fullkrug stated.
Last season in the Bundesliga, Fullkrug averaged a goal every 200 minutes with a conversion rate of 20.69% from his 58 shots.
This signing reflects West Ham's ambition as they prepare for an exciting season under new management.
