Weston McKennie Juventus Contract Talks: Agent Refutes Rumours Of Breakdown

Weston McKennie's agent publicly rejects reports of a contract impasse with Juventus amid ongoing negotiations ahead of the January window, clarifying that talks have not collapsed and that a move to MLS remains speculative.

Weston McKennie’s future at Juventus remains under debate as talks over a new deal continue, but agent Cory Gibbs has strongly denied suggestions that negotiations collapsed or that a move to MLS is close, despite growing speculation in sections of the Italian media.

McKennie’s current Juventus contract runs until the summer of 2026, with the deal due to expire in June. When the January transfer window opens on Thursday, McKennie will be allowed under regulations to hold formal discussions with other clubs about a potential transfer.

Weston McKennie Juventus contract update

Italian outlets have reported that discussions over a fresh Juventus contract stalled because of topics such as agent commissions, and claimed this situation might lead McKennie to leave Europe and join an MLS club in the United States as early as next year.

Gibbs challenged those claims directly on X on Tuesday, making clear that he wanted to address what Gibbs viewed as incorrect information about McKennie’s position at Juventus and about the progress of contract talks with the Serie A side and any suggestion of MLS plans. "I normally dont respond to social media posts, but when false information is being spread, especially from verified handles, I have to intervene. This is Westons agent and I can confirm everything below is FALSE. Know your facts before spreading lies and propaganda."

McKennie has been based in Europe since 2016, first playing for Schalke in the Bundesliga before joining Juventus and later spending time on loan at Leeds United in the Premier League. The current contract position means Juventus must decide whether to extend, sell, or risk losing McKennie later.

The combination of McKennie’s contract end date, the freedom to talk to other clubs from January, and the denial of MLS rumours from Gibbs leaves the Juventus midfielder’s next step open, with all parties now under increased focus as the 2025 calendar year closes.
