Manchester United have finalised a deal to sign young Mali international Sekou Kone from Guidars FC. The midfielder has made a mark with his performances for both Guidars and the Mali Under-17 team.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, Kone can also play in more advanced positions. He has defensive attributes, but can also play further in midfield.

Sekou Kone is an 18-year-old midfielder from Mali. Kone was born on February 3, 2006 in Mali. He has mainly been a defensive midfielder in his budding career. The youngster plays for Guidars FC in Mali and has also represented the Mali youth side. Standing 180 cm tall now and potentially reaching even higher heights, the young player can be a real asset for the Red Devils in midfield.
Kone's transfer fee is estimated to be between €1.5m and €2m. His impressive showing at the Under-17 World Cup in 2023 further heightened interest in him, as he demonstrated his ability to blend tackling skills with creating goal-scoring chances.
Despite being relatively inexperienced, Manchester United sees Kone as a long-term asset with significant potential. He will join other promising young talents in United's academy as the club aims to bolster its youth ranks. Initially, Kone is expected to start with United's Under-21 team to help him adapt to the club and European football.
