East Bengal FC are set to play in the AFC Champions League 2 this season. The Kolkata club won the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 to earn their place in the continental competition.
The ACL Two will feature 32 teams in this newly-introduced second-tier men's club competition. Out of these, 27 teams from 21 Member Associations (MAs) - 12 from the West and 15 from the East - will directly enter the Group Stage. Additionally, three teams (two from the West, one from the East) will drop down from the Preliminary Stage of the AFC Champions League Elite tournament.

As the preliminary stage draw is done, East Bengal is set to face Altyn Asyr FC from Turkmenistan in the AFC Champions League Two Preliminary Stage match.
Altyn Asyr is a football club based in Ashbagat, the capital city of Turkmenistan. The meaning of 'Altyn Asyr' is Golden Century and the club was founded in 2008. The Turkmen club finished 2nd in the Turkmenistan Yokary Liga but qualified for ACL 2 as the top-placed club Arkadag only had AFC Challenge license.
This vital game is scheduled for August 14 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.
East Bengal FC is among four teams vying for two spots in the ACL Two Group Stage in the West Zone. Meanwhile, Bahrain's Al Ahli will clash with Kuwait's Kuwait SC at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa for the other available slot.
As the 2023-24 ISL Shield Winners, Mohun Bagan SG has already secured a place in the ACL Two Group Stage. The winners from the Preliminary Stage will complete the 32-team line-up for the 2024-25 season. These teams will be divided into eight groups and will play in a round-robin, home-and-away format from September 17 to December 5.
