Manchester City enjoyed a record-breaking campaign in the 2022-23 season after securing a treble - Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola's side added to their third Premier League championship in a row by defeating Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. After defeating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final, they achieved the historic treble.

The Citizens however will not look to just stop there and definitely will push to complete a sextuple from the start of next season. Their first chance of securing another trophy will come in the Community Shield on August 6.

Who will Manchester City play in the Community Shield 2023-24?

The Community Shield is seen as the curtain-raiser before the new Premier League season. Traditionally, it is played between the previous season's Premier League winners and the club that lifted the FA Cup.

But with Manchester City claiming both trophies last season, it will now see last season's Premier League runners-up Arsenal facing the Manchester giants in Wembley on 6th August at 9.30 IST.

City have featured in Community Shield for the last two seasons but have come out on the losing side both times.

They lost against Leicester City 2-1 in the 2021-22 season while they were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool in the 2022-23 campaign. This season against Arsenal, Guardiola will get the chance to settle those.

When will Manchester City play their first Premier League game and against Whom?

Pep Guardiola's title defence will get underway against Vincent Kompany's Burnley on August 12th at 12:30 am at Turf Moor in the Premier League. However, before that, the team will fly out to Asia for the preparation.

City will go to Asia for their 2023/24 preseason tour where they will play three games in South Korea that includes Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid.
