East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat has revealed the reason behind releasing Spanish duo Borja Herrera and Javier Siverio from the club.
East Bengal had a victorious Kalinga Super Cup campaign in Bhubaneswar and subsequently, they released the Spaniards from the club.

Borja Herrera, who has played 10 matches for Red and Gold Brigade in ISL, will be playing at FC Goa for the remainder of the season. On the other hand, Javier Siverio will try his luck at Jamshedpur FC for the rest of the season.
East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat was asked about the decision to release the players, and the Super Cup-winning coach says the players had their wish to leave the club and he didn't want to get in their way.
"A player is first a human and then a player. That was the situation with Borja and Siverio. They told me to leave the club. Borja was very clear to play again for Marquez in Goa and the same goes for Siverio. I didn't want to come in the way so they think I am not letting them go," Cuadrat said.
"Borja and Siverio have helped us a lot in the Super Cup and in the ISL. But it was a very humane decision to let them leave," the East Bengal coach added.
East Bengal have added a couple of foreigners in the squad before the conclusion of the January Transfer Window and Cuadrat is ecstatic with his latest recruits.
"I am very happy with Victor Vazquez and Felicio (Felicio Forbes) in the team. I think they are going to give us different things that we don't have at the moment. We are ready for the second half of the competition with a huge ambition," the East Bengal coach concluded.
The focus in the Kolkata derby intensifies as it is an opportunity for the Red and Gold Brigade to win thrice against the Mariners this season, which hasn't happened in a long time.
