Why has Dro Fernandez left Barcelona for PSG? Two Things that left him 'Hurt' and 'Angry'

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of highly-rated midfielder Dro Fernandez from Barcelona on a five-year deal, reportedly worth €8 million plus add-ons, marking a major coup in the winter window.

Dro has signed a deal with the French club for four and a half years, which runs till 2030. The young midfielder Dro Fernandez dropped a bombshell on Hansi Flick and the club this winter transfer window, announcing his intention to depart amid frustrations over limited playing time.

The youngster, who is a La Masia product, is primarily an attacking midfielder, who can also play at the right wing.

What made Dro Fernandez hurt at Barcelona?

The 18-year-old talent, long viewed as a cornerstone of Barca's future midfield, is now on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports from Sport. His abrupt decision crystallised following Barcelona's Copa del Rey triumph over Guadalajara, where Fernandez sat on the bench without featuring a single minute despite high expectations of involvement.

That snub left him "hurt and angry," propelling him to end his Blaugrana stint prematurely. Fernandez also missed the subsequent Copa del Rey clash against Racing, reportedly due to injury, before pulling Flick aside post-match to confirm his exit wishes.

Adding to his discontent, Fernandez bristled at being demoted to Barcelona Athletic duties in November and January, insisting "he did not want to cut short his progress in a season that he considers key to his career."

This saga has further exposed the struggle for the youngster to transition to the first team from the Barcelona academy, especially with Fernandez's rapid rise from La Masia standout, boasting 5 goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances across competitions this term, now poised to fuel PSG's midfield ambitions alongside stars like Vitinha and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
