The unprecedented rejection from Vinicius Junior has rocked Real Madrid. The Brazil star decided to turn down the latest contract renewal offer from the Spanish club.
Although Vinicius Jr still has two years left in his contract, him not agreeing to pen down a better offer from such a club of Real Madrid's stature does raise questions, which may have a deeper reason behind the apparent cause.

Vinicius, a player who has won all the trophies with Real Madrid, has been a phenomenon at the club. The 24-year-old joined Real from Flamengo in 2018, and has not looked back since. He was a star last season and was one of the key contenders to win the Ballon d'Or. Eventually, Vinicius didn't win the prestigious award and in a protest, the entire Real Madrid contingent decided to boycott the ceremony in France.
As per reports, Vinicius doesn't want to leave the club. There is ample time for the two parties to reach an agreement and eventually we may see him staying. But with an improved salary offer, Real Madrid would have thought that the player would pledge loyalty to the club and pen his extension.
Saudi Pro League clubs have expressed strong interest in acquiring Vinicius Junior, presenting him with highly lucrative offers. Reports suggest that Saudi officials are prepared to offer him a five-year contract worth €200 million per season, totaling €1 billion, that also without any taxes. Such an astronomical offer significantly surpasses his current earnings and could be a tempting proposition.
Throughout his tenure in Spain, Vinicius has been subjected to multiple instances of racial abuse. Notably, during a match against Valencia, he faced significant racist insults, leading to widespread condemnation and highlighting the persistent issue of racism in Spanish football.
Despite efforts to address these incidents, the recurrence of such abuse has been a distressing aspect of his experience in La Liga.
At 24, Vinicius has already secured numerous titles with Real Madrid, including domestic league championships and European honours. Having achieved significant milestones, he may be seeking new challenges to further his career.
Vinicius earns around 20 million Euros per year at the club. The offer which was presented to him didn't meet the valuation and perhaps the Brazil star stalled the extension for that reason. As per the player's camp, he wants a salary which reflects his value at the team. Hence, the Madrid giants may have to up their offer in order to secure their prized asset.
