Manchester United’s star attacker Marcus Rashford continues to be the subject of transfer speculation, despite signing a long-term contract with the club last year.
The England international enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 campaign, scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists, which led the Red Devils to offer him a lucrative new deal to secure his services for the foreseeable future.

This drop in performance coincided with Manchester United’s worst-ever finish in the Premier League, as they finished eighth in the standings.
This term however Rashford has shown signs of a resurgence. In the opening 12 matches of the 2024/25 campaign, he has contributed to seven goals—scoring four and providing three assists.
His improved form has caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs, including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Marseille.
Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping a close eye on Rashford as they prepare for potential changes in their attacking lineup.
With uncertainties surrounding the futures of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman, the Bundesliga giants could be looking for offensive reinforcements next year. Rashford is reportedly one of their preferred options.
PSG are another club linked with Rashford, as they continue to adjust to life without Kylian Mbappe, who departed in the summer of 2024.
While Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola have stepped up under new manager Luis Enrique, the French giants may still seek additional firepower, and Rashford’s profile fits their bills. Marseille have also emerged as a potential suitor.
Why INEOS may sell Marcus Rashford?
For now, there is no immediate concern about Rashford’s future at Manchester United, but that could change as the season progresses.
With Manchester United under new leadership following the INEOS takeover, the club’s stance on squad management has become more pragmatic.
Led by CEO Omar Berrada, the new regime oversaw a clear-out of high-earning players during the summer of 2023, as part of their efforts to rebuild the squad.
If Rashford’s form does not consistently improve, he could find himself under scrutiny. Despite his contract running until 2028, his £350,000-per-week salary could make him a candidate for a potential transfer, should INEOS decide that selling the 26-year-old forward is in the club’s best interest.
The new ownership group has shown a willingness to offload players who do not meet their required standards, and Rashford’s future could be evaluated through these stances.
