Portugal's captain Cristiano Ronaldo will miss both the pre-World Cup Friendlies against the United States and Mexico scheduled this month due to a hamstring injury. The 41-year-old has been out of the national side since late February due to injury. However, the head coach has downplayed speculations of a possible World Cup miss.
It would be the record sixth World Cup appearance for CR7. However, Martinez ruled out the possibility, stating that Ronaldo's WC dreams are 'not at risk'. The Portuguese head coach further said during the press conference that the issue is a minor injury and indicated that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is expected to return within one to two weeks.

"Everything Cristiano has done physically during this season shows that he's going through an excellent spell and that there are no physical problems. At the World Cup, the centre-forward position will be for Cristiano Ronaldo and Goncalo Ramos. We are looking for a third striker with a different profile," Martinez added, chalking out the vision that he has for the national team.
Portugal are set to take on Mexico on Saturday, March 28, in Mexico City, before facing the United States three days later in Atlanta.
"This is the last chance to experiment, because it's the final training camp before the World Cup squad is named," said Martinez.
At the World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, Portugal has been placed in Group K alongside Colombia and Uzbekistan. The final spot in the group will be decided via a play-off, with New Caledonia, Jamaica, and the Democratic Republic of Congo in contention.
Interestingly, this can be the last chance for Cristiano Ronaldo to lay his hand on the coveted World Cup Trophy before he hangs up his boots.
