What happened to Paul Pogba?

Paul Pogba was provisionally suspended by his current club Juventus. After this season's opening Serie A match on August 20, Pogba failed a random drug test. The player was an unused substitute in that match but his Sample B came back positive, which indicated the presence of illegitimate compounds in his bloodstream.

Paul Pogba Drug Substance: What banned substance was found?

Paul Pogba's sample found Testosterone, which is an inhibited compound in an athlete's body.

Testosterone is a hormone which is generally found in a male's body. It generally helps in male body to drive sexual function, increase muscle mass and also help in the formation of sperm.

But taking exogenous Testosterone, which is ingested via external sources, enhances the ability of an athlete's body and that is regarded as an offence.

NADO said Pogba had violated rules when prohibited non-endogenous (not produced by the body) testosterone metabolites - which is not naturally formed by Testosterone - were found in the test, and the results were "consistent with the exogenous [external] origin of the target compounds".

That is the reason why Paul Pogba has been handed a ban of four years from football, thus significantly jeopardizing his career. The French footballer is regarded as a coveted player who has won multiple trophies for club and country.
