Former Arsenal and Man United striker Robin van Persie has been appointed as Feyenoord's new head coach.
The 41-year-old, currently managing Eredivisie side Heerenveen, is expected to finalize his return to Rotterdam later this week.

While this move will excite Feyenoord fans, it's likely to reignite old wounds among Arsenal supporters, who still haven't forgiven him for his infamous move to Old Trafford in 2012. And amid Van Persie's move to Feyenoord, it may well be an opportunity for Arsenal fans to have a revenge at their former captain.
After retiring from professional football in 2019, Van Persie quickly transitioned into coaching at Feyenoord. He took on various roles in the club's youth setup before moving on to Heerenveen last summer, marking his first senior managerial job. Under his leadership, Heerenveen have been competitive, currently sitting ninth in the Eredivisie table and even managing an impressive victory over PSV Eindhoven.
Feyenoord, who parted ways with Brian Priske earlier this month, see Van Persie as the ideal candidate to take over. The club is eager to bring back one of their most famous former players, and an agreement between all parties is expected to be reached by Thursday.
Arsenal fans were befuddled when their captain talisman Robin van Persie decided to leave the club. After a superb outing in the 2011-12 season, the Dutchman shocked the entire Arsenal fraternity and went on to join Manchester United. Much to the disgust of the Gooners, the former Netherlands striker went on to win the Premier League with the Red Devils and also celebrated a goal against the North London club in the 2013-14 season.
As Robin van Persie returns to Feyenoord, it opens up an opportunity for Arsenal, potentially. After advancing to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Feyenoord are in Arsenal's bracket and may meet the North London club. If that happens, be assured, Van Persie will face a hostile atmosphere at the Emirates and the Gunners will have an added impetus to beat the Dutch club.
