The Saudi Pro League 2023-24 season is quite delicately poised at the moment as we are ready to embrace 2024.

This ongoing season currently sees Al Hilal sitting at the summit of the Saudi League table with 53 points in just 17 matches. They are also the only unbeaten team in the league.

Al Nassr, the side led by Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo, is sitting 2nd in the table with 46 points. They are followed by Al Ahli sitting 3rd, and then Al Taawoun at 4th with 34 points.

As we approach 2024, there is going to be a month-long hiatus in the Saudi league. The Saudi league is currently beyond its halfway stage, but the next match will only be played on February 7.

Why Saudi League is stopped in January?

The Saudi league has currently taken a pause and will only resume on February 7. The reason for this five-week-long hiatus is not known, but it could be due to the expansion of the league to 18 teams this season. The Saudi league was expanded to 18 teams from 16 clubs this season, and that is likely to be the new format from now.

The likes of Al Nassr and Al Hilal will play their first match on February 15. Al Hilal will be at home against Al Raed, whereas Al Nassr will welcome Al Fateh at home. Defending Champions Al Ittihad will resume their campaign on February 7 with an away trip against Al Taee.

That means Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing his next Saudi league match on February 15 against Al Fateh.
