WICB appoints ex-soccer manager as new CEO
St John's, Antigua, Feb 24 (UNI) The manager of the Trinidad and Tobago's soccer squad in last year's World Cup will take over as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on April 16.
Bruce Aanensen, who is currently the vice-President of the Queen's Park Cricket Club of Trinidad -- a post he has held for 14 years, will take over as new CEO in the middle of the, world cup Mr Aanensen has also managed the West Indies Cricket Team for benefit matches for Courtney Walsh and Curtley Ambrose.
WICB President Kenneth Gordon, while announcing the appointment, said, ''Mr Aanensen brings to the WICB a rare combination of business and sporting expertise, as well as solid management training and experience at the highest levels. He is well suited to the organisation at this time and we are very pleased that he will be coming on Board.'' The newly appointed CEO said he was braced up for the challenges that lay in handling the board.
''This is a challenge but one which I welcome. I am dedicated to the region and to all the sports that we play. However, cricket remains my first love and I have always wanted to help the West Indies team regain its place at the pinnacle of World Cricket,'' he said.
