Laura Wienrother Completes Permanent Transfer To Manchester City From Arsenal

Laura Wienrother has officially joined Manchester City on a two-year deal after her loan spell from Arsenal. The defender aims for success in the Women's Super League following her recovery from injury.

Laura Wienrother has committed to Manchester City on a permanent basis, leaving Arsenal behind. The defender, who joined Man City for the latter part of the 2024-25 season, has now secured a two-year contract with the Women's Super League team. Wienrother, aged 26, had previously played 51 matches for Arsenal since her transfer from Hoffenheim in 2022.

Despite her promising start at Arsenal, Wienrother faced setbacks due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury in May 2023, which sidelined her for 11 months. During her stint with Manchester City last season, she appeared in eight games. Unfortunately, the team fell short of European qualification, finishing fourth and trailing champions Chelsea by 17 points.

Wienrother Joins Manchester City Permanently

Wienrother remains optimistic about Manchester City's prospects. "I really enjoyed the last six months. I feel like I settled in well," she expressed on the club's website. Her confidence in the team's future success is unwavering as she believes they are poised to secure trophies soon.

The Austrian international expressed her fondness for both her teammates and staff at Man City. "I really like the girls, I really like the staff. So, when the opportunity came up that I can stay, I didn't have to think twice," she stated. Her commitment to contributing to the club's success is evident as she aims to help them achieve their goals.

Wienrother sees potential within the squad and believes they possess the necessary qualities for success. "This club is made to win titles, to win trophies, and I'm here to do that," she declared confidently. She anticipates a bright future for Man City as they strive for excellence.

The arrival of a new coach brings a fresh start not only for newcomers but also for existing players. Wienrother acknowledges this transition period as an opportunity for growth and adaptation within the team dynamics.
