All India Football Federation (AIFF) sacked Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac who joined them five years ago. With the intention of ending one of India's worst runs, AIFF will look to employ a new coach. However, the question that's plaguing everyone at this moment is who will be that new coach?
Talking to a AIFF official, myKhel figured out that the technical committee wants a foreign name managing the team hereafter. Taking over the team five years ago, Stimac gradually won over the hearts of the Indian football team fans with the team's performances. AIFF is probably looking to bring back the good days with a new foreign coach.

Especially considering they now have a good squad on their hands. It was the end of an era when they recently lost captain Sunil Chhetri to retirement. However, they undeniably still have several good players for all positions in the team. Hence, it's the best time to take advantage and bring results for the Blue Tigers.
As AIFF took the decision to sack Igor Stimac, they will have to compensate him for the time he would've stayed with the team had he not been sacked. It's still unknown what that compensation amount will be but the next coach's salary budget may be impacted because of it.
As per multiple reports, AIFF have offered approximately Rs. 75 lakhs to Igor Stimac to compensate him. It will be equate to around three month's salary for the former coach. Stimac was set to remain as the head coach till 2026 and depending on that, he could ask for a lot more. As of now, he still hadn't replied to the offer.
AIFF will take the 'go ahead’ from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to appoint the new coach. It's unknown how long it will take AIFF to officially appoint a new coach. If it takes longer than expected, assistant coach Mahesh Gawli will be appointed as the caretaker coach for the first team.
