Victor Vazquez reached Kolkata only a few days ago. It seems, after taking only one day to rest, he didn't delay and joined the team today for a training session. The East Bengal senior team were given an off day.
However, that didn't matter to Vazquez who trained under coach Carles Cuadrat with the junior team. He could be starting this weekend against Northeast United. He could help the team in the absence of Javier Siverio and Borja Herrera.

East Bengal announced the signing of Victor Vazquez who spent his young days learning in La Masia alongside Lionel Messi. The player landed in Kolkata on Sunday midnight. He rested only for a day and decided to join them in Tuesday’s training session.
Arriving in Kolkata, talking to the media, the Spanish player said, “I am looking forward to play in the East Bengal jersey. I want to give my best for this team. Messi is a very good friend of mine. He is one of the best footballers in the world.”
The senior team was given an off-day but Vazquez did not wait and started training with the junior team in the presence of coach Carles Cuadrat. Looking at his enthusiasm, it can be guessed that the coach could start Vazquez against Northeast United.
During the winter transfer window, East Bengal sent Javier Siverio to Jamshedpur FC and Borja Herrera to FC Goa on loan deals. In their absence, Vazquez’s inclusion in the team could help East Bengal hold on to their current terrific form.
After a long time, almost after three years, East Bengal are back to a form which can give their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan a run for their money. They proved that in the recent Kolkata derby where their performance to the undoubtedly superior Mariners, stood out.
They also won their first-ever trophy in 12 years as they won the Kalinga Super Cup title. However, they need to hold on to this form if they want to better their situation in the ISL 2023-24. Vazquez’s skills can help them in that endeavour.
