Willian wants to stay at Chelsea well beyond current deal despite Manchester United interest.

Willian wants to stay at Chelsea deal despite Manchester United interest

London, March 6: Chelsea winger Willian has quashed the rumours of him leaving for Manchester United and claimed that he waiting for a new Chelsea deal so that he can help his side for many years beyond the end of his current contract.

During the Blues recent struggles, the player has now come out as their foremost influencing player and has scored four goals in last five games, adding his tally to a total 12 goals and contributed 10 assists in all competitions during an impressive season.

Since last year, Willian has been out of favour with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and has lost his regular starting birth to team-mate Pedro as the Brazilian started many games from the bench although his recent performance has seen him rose up in the pecking order in the starting XI.

The 29-year-old has a contract with the Stamford Bridge club until 2020 but since the last two transfer windows, there were rumours that he can move to Manchester for regular game-time under his former boss Mourinho with advanced talks being held.

Mourinho too had earlier expressed his interest in the Chelsea winger. Willian was also named Chelsea's Player of the Year in Mourinho's last season at Stamford Bridge in which the Blues struggled to stay afloat and apparently the duo shares a solid bond since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013.

But now dismissing all the rumours, the attacker has ruled out an imminent switch to United and suggested he’s very happy in West London and he has no intention of going anywhere anytime soon.

The 29-year-old told Planeta SporTV: “My goal is to stay here at Chelsea.

“Unless Chelsea does not want me anymore - then I'd have to find another club!

“I want to stay here for many more years, if it is possible, to renew my contract. On that, we have not talked yet. It might happen. I'm adapted here.

“I will have been here five years at the end of the season, I've won titles. I think I have the affection of the fans too.

“I intend to continue here until the end of my contract, to renew, and to continue for more years.”

The former Corinthians academy player also has claimed that he does not have any intention of returning to his native place in Brazil and he only wants to end his career with Chelsea if given the chance.

He added: “To be honest, today I have no thought of returning to Brazil or even ending my career in Brazil.

“My goal is to stay here and, if possible, finish here as well.

“That is my thinking today. I do not know what will happen in the future, I might change my mind. But today my thinking is this - stay in Europe and wind up here too.”
