West Ham set to launch a bid for Arsenal star

The 25-year-old has a year left on his contract and is desperate to resurrect his career.

Kolkata, August 31: Out of favour Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is being linked to a dramatic deadline day switch to West Ham.

The 25-year-old has a year left on his contract and is desperate to resurrect his career as the Hammers are considering to offer him a Premier League lifeline.

However, the Emirates star will be made to sweat it out on the final day of the transfer window.

The East Londoners are looking to rekindle their chase for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho and have kept Wilshere as a back-up option for now.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long time now but it has failed to materialise so far.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is keen to add another quality midfielder to his ranks in order to improve the team but the club are refusing to meet the Portuguese giants’ £40million price tag.

If the West Ham hierarchy struggle to push through a last-minute deal for Carvalho, they will turn their attention to Wilshere.

It is believed that West Ham are looking to get Wilshere on a season-loan and will wait for him to become a free agent next summer when they will try to sign him for free.

The England international is yet to commit his future to Arsenal and the Gunners might like to sell him now rather than seeing him leave for free next summer.

Wilshere spent last season on-loan at Bournemouth and has only returned to action this month after breaking his leg last season.

Arsenal are likely to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez bid adieu on the deadline day too.

Even though Wilshere is surplus to requirements at the moment, Wenger might want to keep him if he cannot get replacements for his outgoing stars.
