With Gurpreet banned for two games, Bengaluru FC bring back 'injured' Mawia

Indian Super League club Bengaluru FC will bring back goalkeeper Lathuammawia Ralte (also known as Mawia) into the squad as a replacement for the injured Abhra Mondal.

Bengaluru, December 6: Indian Super League club Bengaluru FC will bring back goalkeeper Lathuammawia Ralte (also known as Mawia) into the squad as a replacement for the injured Abhra Mondal.

Ralte had suffered a low-grade II disruption of the anterior-inferior tibio-fibular ligament ahead of the start of the season, having missed the club's first three games. Ralte will replace Abhra Mondal, who has suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to be ruled out for four weeks.

Ralte will be available for selection to head coach Albert Roca for Bengaluru FC's upcoming game against NorthEast United FC on 8th December 2017 at Guwahati.

The move, however, was met with scepticism with many questioning how the squad was allowed to freely rotate players whenever they pleased. The club had earlier ruled Mawia out for at least six weeks. Many questioned the timing of his return as choice No 1 goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was handed a two-match ban after a red card in the ISL game against FC Goa on November 30.
