Wolves Draw With Brentford: Thomas Frank's Side Misses Out On European Football Next Season

Brentford's aspirations for European football were dashed after a 1-1 draw with Wolves. Bryan Mbeumo scored for Brentford, while Marshall Munetsi equalised late in the match. The result left Brentford in 10th place.

Brentford's aspirations for European competition next season were dashed after a 1-1 draw against Wolves. The match at Molineux saw Marshall Munetsi's powerful goal equalise Bryan Mbeumo's earlier strike. Brentford needed a win to overtake Brighton, who secured eighth place by defeating Tottenham 4-1. Christian Norgaard assisted Mbeumo's 20th Premier League goal, capitalising on a defensive mistake.

Wolves managed to level the score with 15 minutes left. Jorgen Strand Larsen set up Munetsi, whose volley ended Wolves' three-game losing streak. Brentford dropped to 10th after Bournemouth overtook them by beating Leicester City. Vitor Pereira's team finished the season in 16th place.

Wolves and Brentford Share Points in Final Match

Mbeumo reached a milestone with his 20th goal, becoming the first Cameroonian and second Brentford player after Ivan Toney to achieve this in the Premier League. This season marks only the second time two African players have scored 20 goals each, following the achievements of Mohamed Salah in both instances.

Wolves' Struggles on Final Day

Despite Matheus Cunha's efforts with eight shots, Wolves had to wait until the 75th minute for their equaliser. They have won just once in their last 11 final-day Premier League matches. Among teams with at least three seasons played, Wolves are one of four with a final-day win rate below 10%, joining West Brom, Sunderland, and Hull City.

The season concluded with Brentford securing a top-10 finish, while Wolves ended their campaign without significant improvement in their final-day performance statistics.
