Wolves vs Arsenal: Mikel Arteta provides crucial update on William Saliba ahead of PL Clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided updates on several injured players as the team prepares for the important Premier League clash against Wolves on Saturday (January 25).

William Saliba, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, missed Arsenal's last two matches, a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa and a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

The 23-year-old French defender picked up the injury during training ahead of the Villa game. Arteta is optimistic that Saliba could return next week, although the upcoming clash against Wolves is likely too soon for his comeback.

Another player currently on the injury list is youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, who is dealing with a knee problem. He was unavailable for Arsenal's Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb, and while Arteta did not specify a return date, the team is closely monitoring his recovery.

"With Myles, there's nothing serious on the scan so it will be a matter of today having a meeting with the medical staff and a training session and whether it's too early or not. With Willy it's the same. I think they'll definitely be in for next week but this week, let's see how it goes," Arteta said on Friday in the pre-match press conference.

There was some positive news for the Gunners, as Ethan Nwaneri and Riccardo Calafiori made their returns in the midweek fixture against Dinamo Zagreb. Their availability will provide additional squad depth as Arsenal navigates a demanding schedule in both domestic and European competitions.

However, Arsenal are still without several key players. Ben White, who has been out with a knee injury since mid-November, remains unavailable. Arteta confirmed during his Friday press conference that the defender is still weeks away from a return. Similarly, Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Gabriel Jesus remain sidelined - with Saka and Jesus likely being out for the season.
