New Delhi, Jun 14: In a bid to boost women's participation in sports, the event 'Women in Sports: Breaking Barriers' was held at the GD Goenka Sports Arena, New Delhi. This initiative was organised with support from the Embassies of Belgium and the Netherlands.
The event was part of a three-month initiative by the embassies, promoting gender equality through sports. 'Women in Sports: Breaking Barriers' featured testimonials from India's top sports champions.

National Footballer Manisha Kalyan, World Boxing Champion Gaurav Bidhuri, and Asian Medalist Archer Jayalakshmi Sarikonda shared their inspiring journeys.
These athletes highlighted the challenges and successes they faced in breaking barriers within the sports industry. Esteemed dignitaries, including Belgium Ambassador Didier Vanderhasselt, Netherlands Ambassador Marisa Gerards, and UN Resident Coordinator for India Shombi Sharp, were present.
Following the testimonials, an all-girls football match took place. Teams from NGOs Slum Soccer and CEQUIN participated. The match was organised with support from the UN in India, UNICEF, and the All India Football Federation (AIFF). It showcased the talents and determination of young female athletes.
