Women's Super League Predictions: Will Chelsea Complete An Unbeaten Season?

As the Women's Super League concludes, Chelsea seeks to finish unbeaten in a historic campaign. Key matchups include Arsenal vs. Manchester United and Everton vs. Tottenham.

The Women's Super League concludes with Chelsea securing their sixth consecutive title. Crystal Palace faces relegation, making way for London City Lionesses. Manchester United clinched the third Champions League spot after a comeback win over Manchester City. They could still surpass Arsenal to finish second if they win at the Emirates on Saturday. Meanwhile, Manchester City will play against relegated Palace at Joie Stadium.

West Ham, Everton, and Aston Villa are in contention for a top-half finish, aiming to surpass Liverpool for sixth place. Chelsea seeks to make history by completing an unbeaten 22-game season in the WSL. Their focus remains on achieving a domestic treble, with the FA Cup final approaching next week. The Opta supercomputer provides predictions for all six matches on this final day of the 2024-25 season.

Chelsea Aims for Unbeaten WSL Season

Arsenal and Manchester United both aimed to challenge Chelsea's dominance this season. However, their match at the Emirates now serves as a play-off for second place. Arsenal holds a one-point lead over United, who need a win to overtake them. Arsenal has historically performed well in their final WSL games, winning 11 out of 14 seasons.

United has struggled in recent finales, losing two of their last three WSL season-ending matches against Chelsea. Neither team is in top form; Arsenal lost their last two games while United is winless in three matches. The Opta supercomputer gives Arsenal a 53.5% chance of victory and a 23.9% chance of drawing.

Brighton is set to achieve their best-ever WSL finish at fifth place unless there's a significant goal swing towards Liverpool. They have won their last two matches after overcoming mid-season struggles but haven't won three consecutive games since November 2021 under Hope Powell.

Aston Villa hopes to finish sixth but needs several results to go their way. They must beat Brighton and hope Liverpool loses while West Ham and Everton also fail to win. Villa has been prolific recently, scoring 13 goals in four matches but conceding twice in each of their last three games.

Chelsea vs Liverpool: Unbeaten Record at Stake

Liverpool currently holds sixth place but may need a win against unbeaten champions Chelsea to retain it due to goal difference concerns with West Ham and Everton. Under interim manager Amber Whiteley, Liverpool has won only one of five recent matches but has had some success away from home.

Chelsea aims to complete an invincible season with an unbeaten record across 22 games. They have previously achieved unbeaten seasons in shorter campaigns and are heavily favoured by the supercomputer with a 79.2% chance of victory against Liverpool's 8.2% chance of causing an upset.

Everton vs Tottenham: Top Half Ambitions

Everton sits two points behind Liverpool with better goal difference and hosts Tottenham, who have little at stake but aim to maintain their record of never losing a final WSL game (excluding curtailed seasons). The supercomputer predicts Everton as second favourites for sixth place with a 46.6% chance of winning against Tottenham's 26.9%.

Leicester City vs West Ham: Chasing Sixth Place

West Ham is poised to take sixth if Liverpool falters but has never won on the final day more than Reading (D2 L5). They recently secured an away victory against Crystal Palace but generally struggle late in the season, winning only once in May across multiple campaigns.

Their opponents Leicester have failed to score in ten league games this season, giving West Ham hope despite only winning one out of twelve May fixtures historically.

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace: Final Positions Set

The match between fourth-placed Manchester City and relegated Crystal Palace is the only fixture where positions are fixed. City missed out on the top three for just the third time ever but should end strongly given their excellent record against promoted teams.

City boasts an impressive final-day history with eight wins from ten games and are heavily favoured by the supercomputer with an 87.4% chance of victory compared to Palace's slim 4.5% chance.
