World Cup Group G analysis - England handed easy group

The Three Lions are in Group G with Belgium, Tunisia and first-timers Panama. On paper, the group looks quite easy and the top two looks quite obvious.

England in easy group

Bengaluru, December 3: England had a poor history against the hand of Argentine legend Diego Maradona but the 'hand of God’ proved to be a good one for them this time as the two-time World Cup winner drew England to a World Cup group which they will surely not mind.

The Three Lions are in Group G with Belgium, Tunisia and first-timers Panama. On paper, the group looks quite easy and the top two looks quite obvious.

It should be no problem for Belgium and England to advance to the knockout stage of the World cup 2018 in Russia. The big game between them is likely to decide who will win the group.

Unknown sides have nothing to lose

England and Belgium both must be wary of the fact that Tunisia and first-time World Cuppers Panama both have nothing to lose in the World Cup. In fact, their achievement will be to play in the World Cup in Russia.

However, there should not be any complacency in either of the England of Belgium players as overconfidence could hurt them dearly. We have seen many underdogs upsetting bigger sides in the World Cup over the years and both Panama and especially Tunisia do have what it takes to hurt the two big guns of World football.

Belgium vs England - the group winner decider

Football is a game where you can never predict things but if things go as per expectations, it will be the game between England and Belgium that will decide the winner. Belgium clearly have a much superior squad but Gareth Southgate has shown that he is defensively very much resolute and will not mind a draw.

If the game ends in a tie, it will be the goal-difference of the two sides that will decide who wins the group and both teams therefore, will look to score as many as they can against minnows Panama and Tunisia.

Conclusion

On paper, the group G looks like an easy group. There is not much danger looming on either England or Belgium to head out of the competition earlier than expected. This group also is likely to produce a good number of goals.
