Mexico City, June 30: The President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, praised the performance of the national team, even though they lost to the Netherlands 1-2 at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil Sunday (June 29).

"Thank you for your performance and for no giving up. Thank you coach Miguel Herrera. Your country will always believe in your guys," the president wrote on his twitter account, reports Xinhua.

When Giovani Dos Santos scored the first goal at the 48th minute, Pena Nieto wrote "Great goal. You are great!"

The Netherlands staged a late fightback in the last few minutes by scoring two goals (Wesley Sneijder at minute 88 and Klaas Jan Huntelaar at minute 92, crashing the dream of the Mexican team to go any further.
