French player Benjamin Mendy has been left bankrupt after selling property, supercars, and luxury watches for losses totalling more than £1 million.
The 28-year-old was regarded as one of the top left-backs in the World when he signed for Manchester City having helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 trophy.

Following the news he was immediately put in police custody and while he was in prison, the French star was slapped with three more charges of rape.
He was granted bail after a couple of months but the next two years saw Mendy circling the courtroom to find a way out of the case.
Now after almost two years of accusation, the player has seen jurors unanimously clear him of all charges handing him a new ray of life.

During all these years, the defender has been left ruined fighting to clear his name which has almost led him to bankruptcy.
Following the arrest, Manchester City immediately suspended him from the ranks stopping his salary the following month.
