Barcelona's young talent, Lamine Yamal, has set his sights on adding the Champions League and World Cup to his list of achievements. Despite just turning 18, Yamal has already made a significant impact at Barcelona. Since his breakthrough in the 2023-24 season, he has contributed to 53 goals in 106 appearances. His focus remains on team success rather than individual accolades.
Yamal's performances have been instrumental for both club and country. He played a crucial role in Spain's European Championships victory last year, starting six out of seven matches. During the tournament, he scored against France in the semi-final and provided four assists. His creativity was unmatched, leading the tournament with 19 chances created and ranking high in dribbles attempted.

In the 2024-25 season, Barcelona was among the favourites for the Champions League under Hansi Flick. However, their journey ended in the semi-finals against Inter Milan with a narrow 7-6 aggregate loss. Yamal shone brightly during this campaign, becoming the youngest scorer in a Champions League semi-final at just 17 years and 291 days old.
His record-breaking performance saw him surpass Kylian Mbappe's previous record. Yamal also became only the second teenager to score in all knockout stages of a single campaign since Mbappe did so for Monaco in 2016-17. He ended his European run with eight goal involvements and led Barcelona with 56 dribbles.
On the international front, Yamal is yet to make his mark at a World Cup but is expected to feature prominently in the 2026 edition across North America. His ambitions are clear: "Turning 18, I wish to achieve everything we had at 16 and 17," he stated on Barcelona's website. "The title we're missing is the Champions League and also the World Cup."
Despite his youth, Yamal's determination is evident as he aims to secure these prestigious titles soon. "My mindset tells me I have to go out and win," he added. "I'm not thinking about how many years I've got ahead - I want to win now."
Yamal's impressive achievements include winning four major honours with Barcelona, including a domestic treble last year. While he's been tipped as a contender for this year's Ballon d'Or alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele, his primary focus remains on team trophies.
The winger's commitment to success is unwavering: "I’ll try and give everything to make it happen," he promised fans. "We’ll be there, fighting, and the Champions League will come home. The World Cup too."
