Zidane accepted my apology, says Materazzi

Rome, Dec 11: Finally, former French captain and FIFA World Player, Zinedine Zidane, has accepted Italian defender Materazzi's apology after their famous 'fight' in World Cup 2006 final.

Marco Materazzi said media that he met Zidane and exchanged an handshake at Milan in Nov 2010. The meeting was unexpectedly happened in an hotel at Milan, where Materazzi went to see his coach Jose Mourinho before Inter Milan's Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

Materazzi said that they spoke for some time and later Zidane extended his hand to him.

"Let's say that it was I who spoke most and at the end when he extended his hand to me I clasped it and didn't let go until he looked me properly in the eye. That's what I wanted and that's how it went," said Materazzi.

During the 2006 World Cup final, Zidane was shown red card for head-butting Materazzi in the chest. Later, Zidane claimed that he did that because Materazzi foul-mouthed against his sister.
