Bengaluru, March 22: It might have come as a double bonus for Real Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain with Robert Lewandowski’s latest Real Madrid rumors. It was recently reported that Lewandowski’s agent met with Real Madrid’s representatives and have already sorted a deal in principle with the Polish striker. It now remains only a matter of transfer fee to get him. PSG will be quite relived with this as Madrid will lose some interest in their chase for Neymar.

According to AS, Madrid already have an agreement in place with Lewandowski’s newly appointed agent Pini Zahavi, although the club have not held talks with Bayern over a transfer fee. The report claims that Zinedine Zidane is fully behind Madrid’s bid to sign the 29-year-old, although any deal is likely to cost the Spanish champions around €100 million (£88m).

Since Robert Lewandowski’s 4-goal rout at the Bernabeu in 2012-13 Champions League season, he was heavily linked to Real Madrid. However, the Pole joined Bayern Munich the following season.

Madrid have also been concerned by Karim Benzema’s form and look to offload him this summer. Lewandowski has been a sensation for the Bavarians ever since joining them and has been performing season after season. He has scored 32 goals in 37 appearances so far this season.

If these reports are true, Madrid will consider stepping out of their chase for Harry Kane and Neymar. The Champions League holders believe they won’t spend such a hefty transfer fee for either of the player, should Lewa’s deal go through successfully.

Last month, reports in Germany claimed that with his current deal is due to expire in 2021, the Poland international rejected an offer of a new contract from Bayern.
