Bengaluru, August 10: Former Swedish International Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly informed Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho that he is interested in a return to the club once he completely recovers from the knee injury.
Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United in 2016 as a free agent from Paris Saint German and went on to score 28 goals last season, helping his team to win FA Community Shield, EFL Cup and the Europa league.
However, his march was stopped by a barrier when he suffered a cruciate knee ligament damage in April during United's quarter-final match against Anderlecht in the Europa League.
The former Milan forward was predetermined to sign a one-year extension at United after his marvellous display, however, the deal was put on hold when it turned out to be clear that he will not be fit until the end of the year.
After a surgery to his knee, the attacker went on a long holiday, but his agent Mino Raiola insisted that his client is ready to play again.
Raiola suggested they will examine all the options that they have received from clubs, including offers from the MLS. Clubs like AS Monaco, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid all were linked with the former PSG star.
However, according to recent reports, Ibrahimovic has disclosed to his agent that he only prefers a move to Old Trafford again as he believes he has unfinished business in England.
Manager Jose Mourinho also hinted on the eve of the Super Cup against Real Madrid in Skopje that Ibrahimovic could return to Manchester United, with the striker "closer" to the Red Devils than any other club.
Although his position as the main striker at United has been filled this summer with the £75 million signing of Romelu Lukaku, While, a short term deal after his return in January until the end of the season could be a huge backup for the Belgian forward.
Ibrahimovic is currently nursing from the cruciate tendon damage, at United's Carrington training ground and has also started with some light training.
