Danisewicz got involved with Para triathlon through Dare2tri, a club in Chicago. She met one of the co-founders during a summer internship interview. Despite having no background in swimming, cycling, or running, she picked up all three sports simultaneously. Her first race was just a few months later, and she has been hooked ever since.

Training and Coaching

Since 2018, Danisewicz has been a member of the US national Para triathlon resident team in Colorado Springs, CO. She says, "A team of us have been training together since 2018. Honestly, the resident team has been a game changer for me." Her coach, Derick Williamson, has played a significant role in her development.

Notable Achievements

One of Danisewicz's most memorable achievements is winning silver in the women's PT2 event at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In 2015, she was named Female Para Triathlete of the Year by USA Triathlon. These accolades highlight her dedication and skill in the sport.

Challenges and Adaptations

In October 2022, Danisewicz sustained a concussion in a bike crash. Despite this setback, she continued to push forward. In 2023, she returned to using a fixed blade prosthetic after experimenting with a knee joint since 2019. She explains, "The problem is the lab isn't the real world... In my very first run back [with the fixed blade], I felt an effortlessness I never felt with the knee."

Danisewicz's philosophy revolves around taking calculated risks. She believes that practising risk-taking in safe environments helps manage discomfort when it matters most. Her influences include Coach Keri Serota and US Para triathlete Melissa Stockwell.
