Sydney: Two stunning results sent South Korea and defending Olympic champions The Netherlands through to the semi-finals of the men's hockey tournament when both looked sure to miss out on Tuesday.
Winless Britain's 2-1 victory over Germany was the shock of the day and rescued the Dutch when their hopes looked dashed after losing 2-0 to Pakistan in their final Pool match on Tuesday.
Then Poland grabbed an equaliser two minutes from time against India in their final pool match to earn a 1-1 draw and send the Koreans through despite their 2-1 loss earlier in the day to Australia.
South Korea finished level with India on points but went through because they had beaten them 2-0 earlier in the tournament.
Many Dutch players were in tears after their defeat by Pakistan but as has been proved time and again in this tournament, nothing can be taken for granted.
The British came from behind to win 2-1, and suddenly it was the Germans who were weeping. Germany had needed only a draw to secure the second semi-final spot in Pool 'A', alongside Pakistan.
