AI, PNB split points in Ranjit Singh hockey
New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Air India (AI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) played out a 1-1 draw while Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) also split points with BPCL by an identical scoreline in the quarterfinal league matches of the third Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament at Shivaji Stadium here today.
After a barren first half, Joga Singh put AI in the lead through a field goal in the 45th minute. But, five minutes later (50th), PNB equalised through Jatinder Singh via a penalty corner.
In the second match, Tushar Khandekar's 21st minute penalty corner hit sounded the board to give BPCL the lead. Sarvanjit Singh restored parity by scoring the equaliser for PSB in the 27th minute, that also from a penalty corner.
Indian Airlines play IOC while Namdhari XI take on BSF Jalandhar tomorrow.
