Pakistan's fate in the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy was a disappointing one, as they were eliminated from the round-robin stage. With a 5th place finish, the three-time Asian Champions Trophy winners will be hoping for a better outing in the upcoming Asian Games.

And with the continental competition around the corner, one name the Pakistani faithful can rely on is Abdul Shahid Hannan. The dynamic youngster of Pakistan won the Emerging Player Award in the tournament and is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Hannan scored two goals in six matches for Pakistan and has been a livewire in the attack. The 17-year-old dazzled with his dynamism and fearless display of hockey, and was among Pakistan's few bright sparks in the tournament.

Hannan, who belongs from a hockey family, has been moulded in a way which revolves around hockey. And it showed in the teenager's performance in this competition, where he glided against some top oppositions without much difficulty. At such a tender age, the Pakistan attacker's poise and elite quality are something to hold on for Pakistan.

Hannan now has 10 goals in 25 appearances for his country. The flamboyant player can be the mantle for Pakistan Hockey in coming years and he has all the ingredients to be a proper star.
