India have risen to the pinnacle of continental hockey as the men's team have secured th Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2023.
The Indian team demolished Japan in the Final on Friday to seal their 4th Gold Medal in the competition. Harmanpreet Singh and co. were heads and shoulders above every team in this tournament, and they finished things off in style in Hangzhou.

The World no. 3 team was being tipped to make amends of their 2018 mistakes, and they have lived up to the expectations. With this, the Indian team have also qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
India were by far the best side in the Asian Games 2023 when it comes to men's Hockey. The Indian team have finished with six wins out of six matches in the tournament, and all of them have been convincing wins. Let's have a look at how India got their hands at the Gold medal-
India started their campaign with a 16-0 victory over Uzbekistan. Captain Harmanpreet Singh didn't play but the Men in Blue had no problem as they manhandled the Uzbeks. Lalit Upadhyay and Mandeep Singh scored three goals, while Varun Kumar netted four times.
India's next assignment was against Singapore, which they passed with flying colours. This time they won the match with a scoreline of 16-1. Mandeep Singh again scored a hattrick while Harmanpreet Singh returned in royal fashion with 4 goals. Varun Kumar and Abhishek also netted a brace each.
This is the lowest victory margin for India in this Asian Games 2023. Abhishek scored a brace, while Mandeep Singh and Amit Rohidas scored one each for the Indian team. Japan got two late goals and India came away as 4-2 victors.
Despite much hype, arch-rivals Pakistan was no match for the rampant Indians as they annihilated their neighbours without mercy. Harmanpreet Singh scored four goals agian as Pakistan were put to the floor with a 10-2 scoreline. Varun Kumar again chipped in with two goals.
Bangladesh also made a sorry surrender to India, as the stick heroes completed the group stages with five victories. Harmanpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh scored hattricks each as they routed Bangladesh 12-0. Out of 12, six goals were field goals.
India made a rampant start in the first quarter as Hardik Singh, Mandeep Singh and Lalit Upadhyay scored to give them a three-goal lead. Korea came back with purpose and were trailing by just 3-4 at the end of 3rd quarter, but an Abhishek goal in the 54th minute sealed the deal for India as they qualified for the Final.
In the Final, India dismantled Japan in the last two quarters. After a 1-0 lead at Half Time, the Indian side showed their prowess after the break. Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace while Abhishek and Amit Rohidas scored one each, adding to the earlier goal of Manpreet Singh. Japan's Seren Tanaka got one back but the Indian team was too hot to handle for the Blue Samurai.

The Indian hockey team has made giant strides in the latter part of this year. After a disappointing outing earlier in the World Cup, the Indian team racked up the Asian Champions Trophy, and now have topped it with the Asian Games Gold.
