Asom meet Services in Hockey semis

Guwahati, Feb 14 (UNI) Asom will take on favourite Services while Orissa face Delhi in the hockey semi-finals of the 33rd National Games.

Despite beaten 1-4 by Delhi today, Asom marched into the last four by virtue of topping the pool B.

In the other group, Services defeated Orissa 4-2 thus accumulating all nine points on offer in three games.

Giant killer Asom, which already downed former champion Punjab and Kerala in their first two group matches, could not live up to their reputation today and were tamed by Delhi.

The Delhi drew the first blood through Hamja Mustafa as the first half ended 1-0.

In the second half, Delhi came firing on all cylinders and doubled the lead with through Prasant Tirkey in the 47th minute.

Asom pulled back one through Brojen Singh Thokcham but Hamja scored another to make it 3-1. Hera Singh hit the last to complete the humiliation.
