Delhi decimates Bhopal 32-0 in Jr women hockey

Gwalior, Oct 3 (UNI) A whopping 83 goals were scored on the fourth day of 37th Junior Women's National Hockey Championship with Delhi teaching a hockey lesson to Bhopal in their 32-0 decimation while Manipur overwhelmed Jammu and Kashmir 20-1 here today.

Delhi captain Monika and Savita fired eigth goals each and Harmanjeet netted six while Pooja, Shweta and Sulekha found the target on five occasions each. Kiran scored four times and Shilpa and Babita one each.

What was remarkable was that all the 32 goals scored by Delhi, who led 20-0 at half time, were field goals.

In the match between Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir, Rambala Devi, Nirmala Devi and Ranjeeta Devi scored 10, nine and eight goals respectively for the winners.

Kiranmala found the net thrice, Memtombi twice and Priya Chanu and Lily Chanu scored once while Meenakshi Dutta was the lone scorer for Jammu and Kashmir.

In other high scoring matches, Jharkhand thrashed Kerala 10-0 while Chandigarh drubbed Gujarat 7-0.

In the only closely fought match of the day, Pepsu had a tough time before prevailing over Bihar 7-6 after 2-2 deadlock at half time.
