Demand for Adhoc Committee to revive hockey

By Staff

Bhopal, Mar 29 (UNI) Holding Indian Hockey Federation president KPS Gill responsible for the decline of hockey, Bhopal Hockey Association demanded Centre to constitute Federation's Adhoc Committee and conduct impartial election under the supervision of retired judges.

''Putting people of a particular community away from the sport, ignoring required parameters in national sports and discriminatory attitude in selecting players are among the reasons responsible for the plight of hockey,'' Association Secretary I Rehman told reporters here today.

He said despite having good talent, players belonging to minority community were not being included in the team for over five years.

Referring to Olympian Inamur Rehman, who bagged bronze medal in Olympics, Mr Rehman added, ''we have experienced coaches, but their services are not being availed''.
