Indian men's hockey team slumped to their third consecutive loss at the Five Nations Hockey Tournament Valencia 2023 on Saturday (December 19) as they lost to Germany 2-3. Goals by Abhishek and Shamsher Singh were wasted as India squandered a two-goal lead.
Both the Indian goals were field goals as Abhishek scores in the ninth minute while Shamsher doubled the lead five minutes later. Goals by Malte Hellwig (28'), Christopher Ruhr (50'), and Gonzalo Peillat (51') sealed the win for Germany.

The third quarter saw India exhibiting a strong display of defence as Germany was awarded two penalty corners but couldn't convert either of the opportunities. With the match hanging well in the balance, Germany managed to equalise by means of a penalty stroke from Christopher Ruhr Germany then netted another goal to take the lead courtesy a penalty corner conversion from Gonzalo Peillat (51') and went on to win the match 3-2 having not conceded any goals after the first quarter.
The Indian Men's Hockey Team will play France on 20th December at 1530hrs IST.
