Former Indian Hockey captain Pargat Singh assaulted by ‘drunk’ man

Chandigarh, April 7: Former Indian Hockey captain Pargat Singh was allegedly assaulted by a drunk man on Tuesday night.

Reportedly incident took place when Singh along with his wife had gone to market to buy some groceries. In the attack which took place around 9 pm in busy market, Singh sustained a fracture in his little finger.

Reportedly a fight broke out after Hockey champion told man to give him way as latter had parked his car in the middle of the road. Sitting SAD MLA from Jalandhar, Pragat Singh alleged that he had only made a polite request to the man, but he got angry and assaulted me.

Hockey player was quoted as saying, "A drunk person parked his car on the road,I just requested him to give us way. But when I again requested him to give us way, he verbally abused and attacked me. I also sustained fracture in my fingers. Action must be taken against the person".

A case has been registered against attacker, identified as Kamaldeep who is a resident of Sector 22, Chandigarh. Reportedly, Chandigarh Police registered case under sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 294 (doing obscene act in public place) of the IPC.
