Haryana routs Gujrat 23-0 in junior National Women's Hockey tourney

Gwalior, Oct 2 (UNI) Powered by forward Rani Devi's eight goals, Haryana routed Gujrat 23-0 in a pool match of the 37th Junior Women's National Hockey Championship here today.

Apart from Rani, Ritu Rani netted six, Sandeep Kaur three, Monika two and Joydeep Kaur, Ramendeep Kaur, Harpreet Kaur and Rajani scored one goal each for the winners. In another high scoring pool match, Bombay thrashed Tripura 15-0, while hosts Gwalior outplayed Assam 10-0.

For Bombay Milosha Pernandes was the top scorer with six goals, while Poonam netted three for the hosts.

Meanwhile, in the other matches of the day, Kerala defeated Uttaranchal 2-1 in a nail-bitting encounter, while Uttar Pradesh prevalied over Punjab 3-1.
