The FIH Hockey 5s World Cup Oman 2024 dates and pools were announced on Sunday (September 3).
The event took place in Salalah, Oman, with attendees including President of FIH, Tayyab Ikram, honored guest H.H. Sayyid Firas Bin Fatik Al Said, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, H.E. Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas.

The announcement of the event's groupings was revealed on this momentous occasion. In the women's tournament, the host country Oman found themselves in Group A alongside Malaysia, Fiji, and Netherlands. Group B comprised of Australia, South Africa, Ukraine, and Zambia. India, United States, Poland, and Namibia were placed in Group C, while New Zealand, Uruguay, Thailand, and Paraguay made up Group D.
The men's tournament saw Netherlands grouped with Pakistan, Poland, and Nigeria in Group A. Group B includes India, Egypt, Switzerland, and Jamaica. Australia, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago, and Kenya form Group C, while host Oman will compete against Malaysia, United States, and Fiji in Group D.
International teams of both men and women, totalling up to 16, will be competing in a bid to be the inaugural Hockey5s World Champions. The World Cup is set to commence from January 24 and conclude on January 31, 2024, in Muscat, Oman.
In his message, FIH President Tayyab Ikram extended his congratulations to all 32 teams that made it into the FIH Hockey5s World Cup.
"I am thrilled to extend congratulations to the 16 men's and women's teams preparing to partake in the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup. As front-runners in this exhilarating new format of our cherished sport, you are setting a precedent for all aspiring players. Your performance will remain etched in the annals of Hockey 5s history," Ikram commented.
